Jim Ruff

Jim Ruff's unique selling point as a candidate is his proven experience in public service bringing the community together to accomplish goals, growth and community pride.

Extensive experience in community planning, economic development, customer service and creative problem-solving skills have been honed while serving the citizens of Lansing and the region. Culminating a successful career as the Director of Planning and Neighborhood Development, Jim directed the work of six divisions and 150 team members, all pulling together to protect and grow the Capitol region.  His service to the community continued as the Associate Director of the City Rescue Mission of Lansing where he spearheaded the licensing of a men's substance abuse program and rebuilt a former elementary school into a shelter for homeless women and children.  He and his wife have also been serving the community with his church family for more than 49 years.  The website will reflect these unique selling points and service history to showcase Jim Ruff's qualifications and community-focused approach.

His mandate for candidacy is found in the Holy Bible: "Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others." (Phil. 2:4 NKJV).  He wants to fulfill this as your Commissioner!
